A Note On Sizing —

A (somewhat) quick refresher, for both those new and returning friends here.

HB sizing has been purposefully created to not run alongside any existing numbered sizing systems. The reason for this is quite simple, because no standard for womens clothing sizing within Australia currently exists. On top of that, after years working in clothing retail, I was unimpressed with what a number on the tag could mean to someone.

I make all items first to fit my own body and the way I like to wear my clothes. My measurements are more or less the measurements on the size chart marked as size B. I am 174cm tall, and prefer to wear my clothes oversized. Each product is then graded up and down by 5 cm in circumference (a usual size grade) to create the sizes above and below B.

Originally I had only 2 sizes in width, and 2 in length. (Length 1, 2, 3 changing via increments of 10cm) However over time and after many conversations with friends and customers about the way they would wear their HB pieces, the offering has expanded.

Within my wardrobe, I now currently hold garments in sizes from A across to D. This changes depending on the way I’d like to wear each piece. I choose A to be slightly more fitted, and a C or D if I’d like it to be feel more oversized on my body.
All garments are designed to be worn a million different ways. Apart or together.

Being primarily made to order, means this sizing system is not the be all and end all, and can be used just as a guide. If you find you are in between sizes, or don’t see the centremetres that correlate for you, please get in touch!!! Send your body measurements, and / or that of a well fitting garment that’s similar and we can work together, adjusting the pattern to fit you perfectly.

I’ve been slowly building an Archive of resources that you can find by looking at the FAQ page on the website, searching the #hbgetdressed tag on instagram, & looking through my Get Dressed series saved in my story highlights. There’s also a size guide with body measurements on the sizing page, and garment measurements on each product’s page.

I’m here for you if you need. Send me an email at hello@hbarchive.com.au and let’s chat!
